How to stop no-show employees on field jobs

A no-show in an office is a problem. A no-show at a client's site is a lost contract. You can't eliminate them, but you can make them rarer and catch them before the client does.

Make the schedule impossible to misread

Send each worker their own list of visits with address and start time. Changes should reach the worker directly, not through a group chat.

Make check-in the rule, not the favour

If the visit doesn't count until the worker checks in at the site, people check in. Tie pay to the recorded visit where your agreements allow it. TeamProof lets you set pay per visit, hour or month.

Ask for a reason when someone's late

A required late reason, when someone is more than an hour off, surfaces patterns: buses, a second job, a site that's hard to reach.

Find out within the hour

The damage from a no-show grows with time. TeamProof tags a visit Missed and emails you if nobody checks in within one hour of the start, and you can reassign from the visit. See missed visit alerts.

Have a backup list

Keep a short list of people or subs who can cover. Handing a visit to a sub in TeamProof keeps the proof coming back to you.

Track repeat offenders fairly

Use the visit history, not memory, when talking to someone about attendance.

What TeamProof records on every visit

  • Check-in and check-out times, recorded when the worker taps Check in and Check out
  • GPS at check-in and check-out, checked against the pin you set for the site
  • Before and after photos, saved to the visit
  • The checklist for that site
  • A late reason if the worker is more than an hour off the start time
  • A Missed tag and an email if nobody checks in within one hour of the scheduled start

Clients can open a private client visit report link, no login needed, showing times, GPS and photos without worker names, phones or pay. Links stay open for 90 days.

Honest limits

  • GPS is checked at check-in and check-out only. TeamProof does not track workers during the shift.
  • Phone GPS has normal accuracy limits, especially inside large buildings. Pin the entrance you want crews to use.
  • Photos prove what was photographed, so the checklist should say what to shoot.
  • No quotes, invoices or payments yet. Payments and invoicing are listed as coming soon.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What's a reasonable no-show policy?

It depends on your province's employment rules and your contracts. Keep it written, consistent and shared with every worker.

Can I change the one-hour Missed window?

Not as a setting. For a fixed start time the Missed tag and email come one hour after the start. If you give the visit a flexible arrival window instead, the alert waits until that window closes.

Does TeamProof track workers all shift?

No. Location is checked only at check-in and check-out, against the site pin.

What does TeamProof cost?

One plan with everything included, after a 30-day free trial with no card. See /pricing for the current price.
